Announcing TAM 2009
Mark your calendars because TAM 2009 (the Tarbiya Annual Meeting) is coming soon to a city near you! This year’s TAM theme will revolve around the new mission statement of MAS and how tarbiya is a key element in achieving that mission. The program will be a journey to help us rediscover MAS, internalize the new mission, learn how to implement, and discuss the implications of our mission for Islamic work.
The weekend experience will feature eye-opening discussions, night prayers, team-building sessions, interaction with MAS’ leadership, skill-based workshops and insha’allah an overwhelming spirit of brotherhood and sisterhood. MAS members of all levels who have consistently attended at least one year of a MAS tarbiya-related program (i.e. usra or MY Connect) are invited to attend.
The TAM will take place in the following four cities:
Washington, DC: October 16-18
Dallas, TX: Oct. 30-Nov. 1
Ontario, CA: Nov. 6-8
Detroit, MI: Nov. 13-15
TAM FAQs
What exactly is the TAM?
The Tarbiya Annual Meeting is a place where all members can become oriented on the direction of MAS Tarbiya and learn how to become agents of tarbiya, whether they work with youth, outreach, Freedom Foundation, or any other field. Tarbiya- a continuous process of nurturing, guiding, and personal development- plays an important role in developing every aspect of our movement, helping the entire Muslim community advance, and achieving the MAS mission. The TAM aims to empower every MAS member to understand, value, and utilize tarbiya in every aspect of their Islamic work.
Should I attend? Who else should I invite?
Every MAS member (of any level) who has been consistent with a MAS tarbiya-related program for at least one year should attend the TAM. MAS tarbiya-related programs include usras, halaqas, and MY Connects. A basic understanding of what MAS is and alignment with the MAS mission are also requirements for attendance.
How much will it cost?
The cost of attendance will depend upon the cost of hotel rental, food, etc. However, the cost should be approximately the same as last year’s TAM. Further details will be available soon.
How do I register?
Registration and more information will be available very soon. Stay tuned for further details and contact your local tarbiya coordinator to see about arranging transportation, financial aid, and any other needs you or your chapter may have.
